MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
REQUIRED LICENSES:
A valid driver's license and good driving record is required. Possess or obtain a CDL within 3 months of hire date.
PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
5 years' experience with two year degree in electrical technology or utility company line worker training.
JOB PURPOSE
Under general supervision, perform routine electrical work on campus primary electrical distribution systems requiring professional skill and technical knowledge of medium voltage systems. Responsible for maintenance and repairs or new construction to the campus primary electrical distribution system including substations, cable distribution and terminations, transformers, switchgear and associated equipment. Maintain campus site lighting and utility plant electrical maintenance. Ensure shop work is performed in compliance with all applicable safety and code regulations including the National Electrical Code, OSHA and National Electrical Safety Code.
2. JOB FUNCTIONS
MEDIUM VOLTAGE
1. Medium Voltage: Perform predictive/preventive maintenance, repair and construction associated with campus primary electrical distribution systems (12470V/4160V) to include tasks such as maintenance/repair/replacement or new construction to underground duct bank cable system, including tunnel system, manholes, underground vaults, overhead lines and poles, circuit switching equipment, substations, transformers, and building switchgear E/40%

2. Campus Site Lighting: Perform maintenance, repair and installation of campus site lighting and systems including walkways, streets, parking lots and other outdoor areas. E/20%
ELECTRICAL AND UTILITY
3. Other Electrical and Utility Plant Maintenance: Maintain, repair, replace electrical equipment and apparatus including, but not limited to, single and three phase motors, starters, generators, fused and non-fused disconnect switches and circuit breakers. Read, understand plans/specifications and apply them to work in the field. Layout and install electrical conduit systems consisting of rigid steel, electrical metallic tubing, plastic ducting
and prefabricated bus duct. Set-up and operate special power and lighting systems required for campus functions. E/20%
