Job Description:

Purpose: To direct all youth-related activities at Abbeville Presbyterian Church for ages 0 through high school in a manner that will complement and enhance the APC mission.

Objective: To develop and foster the growth of APC youth ministries using strong leadership, communication and organizational skills while promoting a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere.

Accountability: The Director will be supervised by the Pastor and under the control of the Session through the Christian Education Committee.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Director will work with the APC Education Committee to present an annual curriculum and will recruit volunteers to assist with all programs. Our goal is to nurture youth in Christian discipleship in a supportive church community.

Administrative duties and ministry include but are not limited to:
? Sunday School ? teach the Middle School and/or High School class.
? Sunday Worship Service ? present children?s sermon which coordinates with service themes
? Wonder-filled Wednesday ? lead the youth in a Bible study.
? Annual Programs ? direct Youth Sunday, Christmas Program & Easter Egg Hunt; and help plan VBS.
? Summer Programs--explore possible summer art, music and/or drama programs.
? Overnights-- promote Trinity Presbytery and other sponsored retreats, camps etc.
? Other Activities?develop and lead other activities to promote service, fellowship, worship, and study
? Communication--update APC congregation/youth/parents on youth activities through The Advance and weekly bulletin as well as modern technology.
? Christian Education Committee--attend meetings.
? Professional Development--engage in enrichment activities which may include continuing education, conferences and literature.
? Community Outreach--participate and support local community youth events and programs (FCA, youth rallies, charities etc).
