Epic Tour de Tech Stops on Newberry Campus
Under nearly flawless blue skies, SC Technical College System President Dr. Tim Hardee cruised across the finish line at Piedmont Technical College’s Newberry Campus on Oct. 1. Followed by his wife and riding companion, Tammy, Hardee completed the fifth section of a 16-leg, 800-mile journey to raise money for student scholarships as part of the System’s Tour de Tech initiative.
Hardee is stopping at every technical college statewide between September 27 and October 12 on behalf of Tour de Tech. Students and other well-wishers enthusiastically greeted Hardee as he stopped in Newberry and presented PTC officials with a check for $5,250, the result of funds raised through the initiative.
Tour de Tech has more than 25 corporate sponsors in addition to dozens of individual donors. As of Oct. 2, the initiative had raised more than $85,000 toward its fundraising goal of $160,000. The tour’s final stop will be Horry-Georgetown Technical College on Friday, Oct. 12. View our Facebook Photo Album. View our video from the event.
