Newberry Student Provides Assistance during Inclement Weather

Austin Goodman, a student at the Piedmont Technical College Newberry County Campus, right, recently came to the rescue of a pair of strangers in the community. During the recent severe flooding, the Prosperity native provided assistance to Norman and Barbara Thomas of Chapin when the couple became lost due to the closed roads in Newberry County. Rather than just provide directions, Goodman led the couple back to the interstate and helped them find the road home. “How fortunate we were to meet a young person with this kind of compassion and willingness to help,” said Barbara Thomas. “We are very grateful to him and he deserves to be recognized for his kindness.”
