Piedmont Technical College to Hold Commencement May 8
Piedmont Technical College will be holding two spring commencement exercises on May 8.
Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. for Associate in Arts and Associate in Science, business, computer technology and public service graduates. A 7 p.m. ceremony will be held for agriculture, industrial and engineering technology, health science and nursing graduates. Both commencement exercises will be held in the James Medford Family Event Center at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood.
Due to limited seating, tickets will be required for all guests attending the graduation ceremony. Each ticketholder, including children, will be entitled to one seat.
The principal speaker for the event will be Thomas D'Agostino, senior vice president of strategic planning and development with Fluor Corporation in Greenville.
D’Agostino, former undersecretary for nuclear security at the Department of Energy, holds an M.S. in national security studies from the Naval War College, an M.S. in business finance from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.S. in physical science from the US Naval Academy. D’Agostino spent more than eight years on active duty in the Navy as a submarine officer and achieved the rank of captain in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
A special feature of commencement exercises will be recognition of top graduates from Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, Newberry and Saluda Counties.
