Piedmont Tech’s Newberry County Campus Open for Tours
The Piedmont Technical College Newberry County Campus is opening its doors this summer for groups who want to take a tour of the facility.
Tours will be conducted for two weeks in June and two weeks in July to allow the community to visit the campus and hear about some of the offerings for traditional and the non-traditional students who may be looking at a career change or taking courses to enhance their current job skills.
“The summer months of June and July provide an opportunity for us to conduct these tours because there may be some groups, clubs or organizations that want to do some ‘educational’ outings in the county,” said Lisa Toland, associate dean of Arts and Sciences. “There may be some club or group that does not have their regularly scheduled meetings, but may want to get together informally.”
A tour will last for 30-45 minutes. It will include a library walk-through, visits to see classrooms that are equipped with Promethean Boards and other technology, PEN rooms and biology labs. Visitors will also be introduced to three Piedmont Technical College programs housed entirely at the Newberry Campus: veterinary technology, patient care technician and the new information technology concentration in the computer technology program.
“We want to invite the citizens of Newberry to this state-of-the-art facility and to encourage them to take advantage of a campus that’s so close to home,” Toland said. “Piedmont Tech is an ideal place for people to continue their education and to pursue degrees that will open doors for them in the future.”
Groups should include at least 8 people. This could be an organized group, a book club, a church group or just a group of friends who would like to tour. The dates are June 17-20 and 24-27, and July 8-11 and 15-18 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
