Scholarship Luncheon Honors Recipients, Donors
Scholarships were presented to students and donors were recognized at the recent scholarship luncheon.
Piedmont Technical College student and Greenwood resident Theresa Peterson (left) was recently awarded the Loutrelle C. Self Memorial Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Peterson, an administrative office technology student, is congratulated by donor Nina Coursey. The award is presented to an AOT major who displays academic achievement, financial need and leadership ability.
Two Piedmont Technical College students recently received the Gwen and Gene Hancock Memorial Scholarship at the annual scholarship luncheon. Pictured are, from left, Precious Logan, a respiratory care student from Greenwood; Jerry Alewine, dean of health science; and Christy Fain, a respiratory care student from Greenwood. Awarded annually to Respiratory Care majors, the scholarship is based on academic achievement, leadership ability and financial need. Gene Hancock was a graduate of PTC’s first evening program and was the college’s first alumni association president.
Piedmont Technical College associate degree nursing student and Ware Shoals resident Abagail Rodriguez, left, was recently awarded the Forty and 8 Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon, presented by Fred Malone. The unit, a support group of the American Legion that was established in 1920 by World War I veterans, annually funds a nursing scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a Newberry County resident and is based on academic achievement and financial need.
Three Piedmont Technical College students were recently awarded the Newberry Electric Cooperative Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Awarded annually to first and second-year students from Newberry County, the scholarship is based on academic achievement and financial need.
Piedmont Technical College student and Abbeville resident Justin Mundy (right) was recently granted the Abbeville First Bank Endowed Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Mundy, a building construction technology (BCT) major at Piedmont Technical College, is pictured with BCT instructor Bruce Fifer. Awarded annually to a BCT student from Abbeville or Greenwood, the scholarship is based on academic achievement and financial need.
Piedmont Technical College student and Abbeville resident Stephanie Hill (left) was recently awarded the Strata Information Group PTC Golf Classic Scholarship at the college’s annual scholarship luncheon. Hill, a business major, is congratulated by Dr. Ray Brooks, PTC president. The scholarship is funded through an annual golf tournament held each spring and selection is based on academic achievement and financial need.
