Hurricane Recovery FAQs

Our FAQ has you covered with answers to common questions, including schedule changes, safety updates, and available support services.

Classes

Have my classes changed due to Hurricane Helene?
  • PEN Classes are now WEX classes (held via Web-Ex, online), meaning you will not need to come to campus to attend class. Your instructor will provide you with a Web-Ex link that you will click on to attend class. This is for all campuses.
How do I know if my class is a PEN class?

A PEN class is a televised lecture class. The instructor may be in your classroom, and broadcasting to other campuses or you may be at a different campus from your instructor. These class sections have a letter of the campus you are on as part of the section number (i.e. 07N would be a PEN class on the Newberry campus). These are the courses converting to Webex instruction.

How does a Webex class work?

This is a synchronous online course. Your instructor will teach online at the time your class was scheduled to meet. You can find the Webex link in your D2L course.

What do I do if I missed an assignment?

Contact your individual instructor regarding updated due dates. PTC will be providing flexibility for assignments that were due during PTC’s closure.

How do I know who my instructor is?

You can find your instructor’s information in multiple ways. The Simple Syllabus for each course will have your instructor’s contact information. D2L will also have your instructor’s information under the “Classlist” tab.

I got a "0" for an assignment that was due during PTC's closure.

Some assignments are “auto-graded,” meaning that if nothing is turned in it will automatically display a 0 after the due date has passed. Instructors will be updating this information and will communicate with you regarding extensions.

What if I cannot make it to my face-to-face class?

Make sure to communicate your situation to your faculty. Faculty are prepared to work with students as our region navigates recovery from last week’s impact.

Internet/Technology

Where is internet available?
