New Partnership with University of Mount Olive Benefits PTC Graduates
Piedmont Technical College (PTC) has entered into a strategic partnership with the University of Mount Olive (UMO) through the UMO Promise program, offering significant educational advancement opportunities for PTC students. This partnership enables PTC students who earn an associate of diversified agriculture and horticulture technology degree to seamlessly transfer to UMO to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
Officials from both institutions signed the formal articulation agreement, emphasizing a mutual commitment to enhancing educational pathways. The UMO Promise partnership facilitates the transfer of up to 60 credits for qualified PTC graduates, ensuring a smooth transition and continuation of their academic journey.
“We are thrilled to expand our educational opportunities through this partnership with the University of Mount Olive,” stated Dr. Keli Fewox, vice president for academic affairs at PTC. “This agreement aligns with our mission to transform lives by providing our students with clear, accessible pathways to further their education and achieve their career goals.”
Through this collaboration, UMO guarantees admission to eligible PTC graduates and provides various financial aid opportunities, including federal assistance and institutional scholarships. These scholarships include the Presidential, Merit, and Leaders Scholarships, catering to students with varying levels of academic achievement.
UMO Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biological Sciences Dr. Steve Matthis said, “We are excited to welcome PTC students to our academic community. This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education and professional success. We look forward to the diverse experiences and knowledge PTC graduates will bring to our university.”
This agreement takes effect immediately and applies to students enrolling in the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year. The partnership is part of a broader initiative to enhance educational collaborations and provide students with more robust support systems for academic and career success.
