Partnership with Laurens District 55 High School Facilitates EMT Certification

Before there were public rumblings about a shortage of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Laurens County School District 55 Superintendent Dr. Ameca Thomas was reaching out to potential partners to help recruit and groom future EMTs while they are still in high school. Now those efforts are seeing fruition with the upcoming launch of the Dual Enrollment EMT Program, a partnership between Laurens 55 and Piedmont Technical College (PTC).

Piedmont Tech and SC Works Holding Job Fair on Oct. 20

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) and SC Works/Upper Savannah once again are partnering to host a Job Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Medford Family Event Center in Greenwood. Among more than 50 high-profile employers at this event will be Impresa Building Systems of Greenwood SC, LLC, an affiliate of Impresa Modular, which just last month announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Greenwood County, creating 180 new jobs. 

Piedmont Technical College to Renovate and Expand Nursing and Health Sciences Facilities

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) has received a total of $6.8 million in state funding to renovate and expand its health care education facilities on the Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood. As the leading educator of health care workers in the region, PTC is well-known for educating a large number of nurses, but its Health Care Division also trains hundreds of students in fields across the health care service spectrum, including surgical technology, medical assisting, cardiovascular technology, and respiratory care.

Piedmont Tech Introduces 2021-22 Presidential Ambassadors

Each year, Piedmont Technical College (PTC) officials hand-pick some of the college’s most promising students to serve as Presidential Ambassadors. In this role, they represent the college at campus events, provide campus tours and speak about their experiences to various audiences. This year’s 17 ambassadors hail from a variety of backgrounds and represent many program areas. 

Academic Honor Students Recognized for 2021 Summer Term

Piedmont Technical College (PTC) students who had outstanding academic accomplishments during the 2021 summer term have earned inclusion on the President’s List. To be named to the list, students must be full time and earn a term GPA of 4.00. Students will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the college president.
